Is a Combi Boiler Suitable for my Home?

Combi boilers are great, in very many ways, however there are some times where a combi boiler might not be the best option for your home.

Do you have multiple bathrooms?
Combi boilers can only feed water out to your baths/outlets at mains pressure. This means that if you have several bathrooms which may all need water at the same time, a combi boiler may struggle to feed them all and you will see a drop in pressure. If your property has a low mains pressure, a combi boiler may not be the choice for you.

Want a power shower?
If you have, or want a power shower, you can not install one alongside a combi boiler. A combi boiler has a pump which is built in to the unit and feeds hot water out to your taps on demand. A power shower reauires a separate pump, which takes water from your 'hot water cylinder' and pushes out to your shower at a high flow rate.

Alternatives to a Combi Boiler
If you do have multiple bathrooms and your mains pressure is very poor, you may be better off installing a system boiler, or conventional system. These types of system have a boiler which sits on your wall, or behind your fire, and they then have a separate hot water cylinder which would usually sit on your landing in a cupbaord... the airing cupboard. This cylinder holds hot water and feeds it out to your radiators and multiple outlets.

Getting a Combi Boiler on Finance

If your current combi boiler has broken down unexpectedly and you're going to struggle to stomach the cost of a brand new one at short notice, finance options are becoming extremely popular.

It's like buying a car, you spread the payments over a period of time and this can be as little as 76p a day. Just like a new car, your new boiler will carry a warranty of up to 10 years, so you can rest assured that you'll benefit from a reliable heating system for many years to come.
